What We Do
Since 2019, we have provided training, tools, and leadership for volunteer driven trail maintenance projects across central Idaho.
Stewardship
We are dedicated to the stewardship of local trails through hands-on conservation and maintenance efforts. Our community-driven group employs traditional tools like the Pulaski to clear overgrowth, repair erosion, and ensure trails are safe and accessible for all. Emphasizing environmental responsibility, we work to preserve natural landscapes, promote sustainable trail use, and foster a sense of collective ownership among outdoor enthusiasts. Our stewardship extends beyond mere maintenance; it includes education on responsible trail use and advocacy for the protection of natural areas. Through our efforts, we not only enhances trail quality but also nurtures a deeper connection between the community and the environment.
Awareness & Education
Our team is committed to education and awareness in trail stewardship. We provide training on tool use, including the iconic Pulaski, and teach volunteers to identify and manage noxious weeds and native plants. By fostering knowledge about sustainable trail maintenance and ecosystem health, the group empowers individuals to contribute effectively. Our goals with our educational efforts is to ensure that volunteers are well-equipped to preserve natural landscapes and promote environmental stewardship.
We work to teach traditional trail maintenance skills, emphasizing the use of tools like the Pulaski. Learning these skills is crucial for preserving our natural trails sustainably and effectively. By mastering these techniques, volunteers can perform essential conservation tasks, combat erosion, and maintain safe pathways. This knowledge fosters a deeper connection to the environment, promotes self-sufficiency, and ensures that the expertise needed to maintain our trails is passed down through generations.

Advocacy & Protection
We are passionate about the protection and preservation of public lands. We work to ensure these natural treasures remain public and accessible to all, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public ownership. Through community engagement, policy advocacy, and educational outreach, our team strives to safeguard public lands from privatization and degradation. Our efforts highlight the value of these lands for recreation, conservation, and future generations, fostering a collective commitment to stewardship.
How We Do It
Volunteers are led by paid, former-agency staff and/or long-term volunteers. All leaders are extensively experienced in backcountry work and travel, and emphasize the transfer of these skills to volunteers in order to build additional volunteer and leadership capacity. Most of our trips are multi-day hitches, where groups hike deep into the backcountry and complete quality work.
